How To: Download & Install Flappy Bird on Your Android Phone or Tablet Without Using Google Play

There has been a lot of news over the last couple weeks about the popular Flappy Birds mobile game and its creator, Dong Nguyen. After becoming the hottest game on Android and iOS devices, Nguyen revealed to The Verge that he was making about $50,000 a day in advertising revenue from Flappy Bird. Then, the game was heavily criticized for having green pipes that looked too much like the ones in Nintendo's Super Mario Bros. series, as well as an almost identical bird and gameplay concept from the Web game Piou Piou. Image via canada.com Nguyen warned that he would be removing Flappy Bird from the iOS App Store and Google Play due to its overwhelming popularity, and on Sunday, February 9th—he did.But it's not too late to get your hands on it.If you're on an iOS device, you're pretty much out of luck unless you're jailbroken and can find a copy of it somewhere. If you already have it on your iPad or iPhone, great—don't delete it and it should stay there forever. If you do, you'll still be able to re-download it from iCloud.

How to Download & Install Flappy Bird for AndroidIf you're an Android user, all you have to do is install the APK of the last version that was available in the Google Play Store. We've got a few different links you can try out (Droidbin link; Devhost link) to download it onto your Android phone or tablet. Then, just make sure you have "Unknown sources" enabled in your Settings (check out our instructions on doing so for the Samsung Galaxy S3, Galaxy S4, Nexus 5, Nexus 7... the process is pretty much the same for all devices) and install the app by tapping on it from your Notifications tray or Downloads folder. Then just follow the on-screen instructions. After that, you may want to consider removing all of the ads, because they can be quite the pain the ass when you're playing. To see how to disable them, check out Nelson's full guide on disabling ads in Flappy Bird.
