HTC is one of the few OEMs that make it easy to unlock the bootloader on their devices. And while they do warn you that doing so voids your warranty, they don't tell you that it also prevents you from collecting promotions that come with their devices.It was recently announced that all HTC One owners would be eligible for free cloud storage, but seeing as having an unlocked bootloader prevented that promotion from being redeemed, most of us were left out in the cold. But as the old saying goes, "A closed mouth doesn't get fed." I went ahead and contacted HTC support, and sure enough, a few days later I was the proud owner of 100 GB of free Google Drive storage (for two years, anyway).Before starting out, you are going to need to locate your IMEI number, which will be on the original box your device came in, or can be located through Settings -> About -> Phone identity -> IMEI. When you have it, head over to the HTC customer support page and enter your device information into the form. In the message section, let them know that the HTC Drive offer is not being recognized by your device. You can also use HTC Live Chat, but it isn't available 24/7/365.Once the ticket has been processed, you will receive an email letting you know that a rep will be looking into your case. It took HTC about a day to generate the link I needed to claim my free storage, but after following the link, the cloud space was immediately credited to my account. This will work for every HTC One out there, so if you own multiple devices, don't be afraid to let them know you want what is rightfully yours, even if you did everything in your power to trick out your phone.

The native dictionaries in iOS, which have been around since 2011, let you define words on your iPhone on the fly in Safari, News, Notes, and other apps. But if you read or write in more than just English, you won't be able to see accurate definitions unless you add those other languages to your list of dictionaries manually.For instance, English may be your primary language, but if you're fluent in Spanish, you may read or write in that language sometimes too. In order to look up an unknown word in Spanish, you would highlight it, then choose "Look Up" from the contextual menu. If you don't have the Spanish language dictionary added in your settings, then you either won't get a definition or you will get one for the English version of the word, if the spelling is similar. Step 1: Add Your Secondary Dictionary LanguagesTo fix the issue addressed above and add dictionaries for your secondary languages (or even just languages some of your friends use that you'd like to stay on top), you can either do it from your Settings app or from the Look Up window itself.

Method 1: From the Settings AppThe fastest way to add new dictionary languages is to just open up the Settings app, tap "General," then select "Dictionary" from the list. As you can tell, there's a long list of foreign languages that you can add to your iPhone's built-in dictionary. Out of all the ones listed, Simplified Chinese, Dutch, French, German, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese, Russian, and Spanish all have dictionaries that can be translated to English text, which is nice if you're still learning a second languages and need your English skills to help you understand.American English British English Simplified Chinese Traditional Chinese Danish Dutch French German Hindi Italian Japanese Korean Norwegian Portuguese Russian Spanish Swedish Thai Turkish Simply scroll through this list and tap on the language or language–English option you want, and it will automatically download and be added to your dictionary list. Since they are being downloaded, you'll be able to use them offline, so there's no active internet connection needed after this. When done, hit "General" to go back or simply exit the Settings app.

Method 2: From the Look Up WindowThis is longer than doing it via the Settings app, but it gives us a chance to run through how the Look Up feature works, so you get a better understanding of how you can use this tool.If it's text that you're currently writing or text in a draft, like in the Notes, Mail, and Messages apps, simply double-tap on a word to highlight it and bring up the contextual menu, then select the "Look Up" option. (You might need to hit the arrows to scroll through the options if you don't see it right away.)For any other text, like on webpages in Safari or in the Apple News app, tap-and-hold on the word until it's highlighted, let go, then select "Look Up" from the list of options. Unfortunately, you cannot highlight already sent or received text in the Messages app, so keep that in mind. On the Look Up screen that pops up, you can see the definition of the word you selected right up top, if one is available. But we're not here for that. Scroll down to the bottom of the page, then select the "Manage Dictionaries" option. Select the dictionary languages (or translation dictionary) that you want to download and add it to your list of dictionaries. When done, jump back to the app you were in, tap "General," or close out of Settings.

Step 2: Define Words with Your New LanguagesNow, when you want to define a word in a foreign language, simply highlight the word, and select the "Look Up" option from the contextual menu. Again, if it's text you're writing or a draft of some sort, double-tap on the word to bring up the menu, otherwise tap-and-hold on the word, then let go. On the main Look Up page for the chosen word, all of the dictionaries that have the highlighted word listed will appear at the top, if any. You can check out the one you want or browse them all to see the differences. When you got what you need, hit "Done" to go back to the app you were in.

Step 3: Remove Foreign Language Dictionaries (If Necessary)If, for whatever reason, you want to get rid of a language in your dictionary, simply go through one of the methods outlined above to get to the list of dictionary languages available. Then, all you have do is tap on the language you no longer need and it will automatically be removed from your device. ConclusionIt's a very well-known fact — iOS and Android have a longstanding battle, but neither side is willing to give way. One thing to note is that LG puts a skin on top of Android before shipping out their phones. This skin gives LG phones a unique look and extra software features, which used to be pretty bloated, but was never despised like the skins some other OEMs put on their devices. I say "used to" because LG has toned down everything except for their theme and the LG-only Smart World app store, so performance doesn't really suffer like it does with TouchWiz.The iPhone X, however, will come with iOS 11, which doesn't match LG's UX in terms of the sheer number of features but offers an intuitive and user-friendly interface. Since Apple has designed both the software and the hardware, the two work in harmony and typically offer a slightly smoother experience than LG's flavor of Android.Overall, there's plenty of room for debate, and we'll know more when we can get our hands on both phones. Of course, even before that we never had official support on the Nexus 7, but hacks seemed to do the job just fine. As it stands now, Google remains on the warpath against Flash, opting instead for HTML5 use, specifically in Chrome (where Flash never worked anyway), and of course Adobe stopped supporting Android long ago.This wouldn't be so bad if so many websites still didn't utilize Flash, like Amazon Instant Video, deeming them usable on mobile. So until these websites decide to update and give in to HTML5, it seems like the rest of us are kind of scroogled. That is, until dev Jassy Franc (aka surviveland) decided to hack Flash Player and provide it to the masses. Without further ado, here is how to get Flash working on your device running Android 4.4 and above. Please enable JavaScript to watch this video.
Step 1: Uninstall Existing Flash PlayerFor compatibility reasons, make sure to uninstall any existing Flash Player you may have running on your device before installing the hacked file that will be provided for you.

GravityBox received an update over the weekend that will bring its bevy of UI tweaks to folks who have installed the framework on their Android 5.0+ devices.Most of the tweaks that helped GravityBox rise to fame in the first place have been ported to Lollipop already. A few will require further development before they'll be compatible with Android 5.0, but I'll outline some of the bigger features below.Don't Miss: 10 Essential Xposed Mods Every Rooted Android Needs The "Clear all recent tasks" button on Lollipop. You can install GravityBox directly from the "Download" section of the Xposed Installer app, making sure to download the "LP" version. Alternatively, you can install it manually from this link.

In Android 10, Google is letting you adjust the accent colors to give your phone a bit of flair. When combined with the new system-wide dark mode, you are looking at eight different color combinations. That is seven more than we had in the previous version and seven additional ways to help your phone stand out.This feature is very similar to Oxygen OS's accent colors. It lets you adjust the secondary color (which by default is blue) wherever it appears in Settings and Quick Settings. This is different from the system-wide dark mode which reverses the primary color from white to black. Instead, this will alter the color of active Quick Settings tiles, toggles, and much more.

Step 1: Turn on Developer OptionsThe first thing you need is to turn on Developer Options. To do so, open Settings and choose "About phone." Locate "Build number" (which is the last option) and tap it seven times rapidly until you are taken to a new page prompting you for your lock screen password, gesture, or PIN. After successfully entering the requested information, a toast message will appear stating "you are now a developer" and you will be returned to the previous page. Return to Settings and choose "System." Select "Advanced," and a new option will appear above "System update" called "Developer options." Choose this option.

Step 2: Switch ThemesWith Developer Options open, scroll to the bottom of the page until you see a grouping titled "Theming." Choose the first option, "Accent color," and a popup will appear with four options: "Device default, Black, Green, and Purple. These are the accent colors you can choose to change to, with blue being the default. Select any option and the color of active Quick Setting tiles, the brightness bar, the volume rocker, the icons in the power menu (except for emergency), the text cursor, radios, the battery icon in the "Battery" menu and more will change. Virtually any place which was blue before within the system UI will now be the new accent color. If you ever want to go back to blue, just return to this menu and select "Device default." Step 2: Replace Your Existing File & RebootNext up, open your favorite root-enabled file browser, then navigate to the /system/etc/ folder. From here, long-press the existing mixer_paths.xml file, then choose "Rename" from the context menu. After that, add a ".bak" to the end of the file name, then press "OK." From here, head to your Download folder and copy the modified mixer_paths.xml file that you grabbed from Step 1. Next, head back to /system/ect/, then paste the modded file into this folder. After that, long-press the newly-copied mixer_paths.xml file, then choose "Permissions" from the menu. Make sure that the Owner category is set to "Read" and "Write," while all other categories are set to just "Read." When you're done there, reboot your phone to make the changes take effect.
Step 3: Balance the SpeakersWhen you get back up, you'll already notice that your phone is outputting sound through both speakers, but the speakers won't be balanced properly, nor will the sound be split into left and right channels. To fix this, you'll have to run two shell commands.These commands will need to be executed every time you reboot your phone, and there are two ways of doing this: First, you can simply run the commands in Terminal Emulator after each reboot, and second, you can have Tasker automatically run the commands upon device boot.

Method 1: Use Terminal Emulator to Balance Them ManuallyIf you don't own Tasker, or if you're not comfortable with the Android automation app, start by downloading a free app called Terminal Emulator.Download Terminal Emulator from the Google Play Store Open the app, then type su and hit enter. From there, tap "Grant" on the Superuser access request, then you'll be ready to send the speaker-balancing commands. Next, just copy the following commands, then paste them into Terminal Emulator one by one, hitting return after each:echo 0x210f > /sys/kernel/debug/tfa98xx-34/regs/06-AUDIO_CTR echo 0x8093 > /sys/kernel/debug/tfa98xx-34/regs/04-I2SREG # right channel only When you're done there, you'll have true stereo sound—but remember, you'll have to run these commands after each reboot to balance out your speakers. So I'd suggest copying the above commands and saving them in your favorite note-taking app.

Method 2: Use Tasker to Balance Them AutomaticallyIf you already own Tasker, you can automate the process of balancing out your speakers after each reboot. To start, create a new profile, select "Event" as the trigger, then choose "System" and tap "Device boot." From here, tap your back button, then choose "New Task" when prompted. Next, add an action to this task by tapping the + button, selecting "Code," then choosing "Run Shell." Don't Miss:Tasker for Beginners: How to Get Started with Android AutomationNext, copy the first command from the bullet point list below, then paste it into the Command field, and make sure to tick the box next to "Use Root." After that, add a second action, and repeat this same process with the second command. When you're done there, tap your back button once, then press the play button in the bottom-right corner.
