Coming Soon: Delete Personal Data That Google Assistant Uses Without Having to Open a Browser

New features are coming to Google Assistant for Android and iOS. You'll be able to use the assistant right inside Waze, enable Driving Mode to see only relevant activities, get your how-to questions answered faster, and have it better recognize personal references in your life. All of this means consuming more data, but there will be more tools that let you erase data you share with Assistant. While all of these features will make Google Assistant more intuitive to use and interact with, its upcoming "Personal References" is especially noteworthy, as it processes personal data you share with Google Assistant to more naturally interact with the app. The assistant will end up better reflecting your own unique needs and preferences to complete tasks and queries faster.Don't Miss: Talk to Google Home Without Saying 'Hey Google' Each Time By sharing important people, places, and other personal relationships with Google Assistant, the app is better able to analyze vague commands and zero in on a specific person, location, or object that its deemed important based off the data you've shared. Asking the app the travel time to a coffee shop, for instance, should instantly yield the time it takes to get to your favorite go-to cafe. Fortunately, the app will make it relatively easy to erase sensitive data from its database, without having to open up Google Chrome or another browser in the process.Control your Assistant data and make privacy choices that are right for you from the 'You' tab in your Assistant settings.
— GoogleYou'd tap your profile image in the Google Assistant app, select "Settings," then make sure you're on the "You" tab. From there, you would be free to edit or remove any data you've shared with the app for maximum privacy. It can already be done to a certain extent, but there will be even more options for removing data, and you won't have to open a browser to get the bulk of it. Image via Google It's worth noting that while Google Assistant's new Personal References functionality is scheduled to touch down sometime this summer alongside others like Driving Mode, some users have reported receiving parts of Personal References' new UI — namely the new "Your places" page that lets you add favorite locations for the app to utilize. That said, we'll be sure to cover this feature in more detail as the rollout commences, so stay tuned.Don't Miss: Automatically Delete Your Google History on a ScheduleFollow Gadget Hacks on Pinterest, Reddit, Twitter, YouTube, and Flipboard Sign up for Gadget Hacks' daily newsletter or weekly Android and iOS updates Follow WonderHowTo on Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, and Flipboard
